Dry skin occurs when skin doesn't retain sufficient moisture. This can happen as a result of frequent bathing, use of harsh soaps, aging, or certain medical conditions. And for those in colder climates, it can stem from cold, dry winter air. Moisturizers have many purposes beyond relieving and preventing dry skin. Avoid harsh bar soaps that contain strong detergents and deodorizers. Don’t use these on your face, and also be selective when it comes to using them on the body.

2) Moisturize Frequently- As the outdoor humidity drops, so too does the water content of your skin. In essence, this means it needs better protection –  a heavier moisturizer. The type you choose depends largely on your skin type. If you have dry or combination skin, pick a moisturizer that’s oil-based rather than water-based, which is what many use in the summer. Thicker, greasier night creams are usually oil based so they can work their magic all night long. If you have oily skin, your skin may actually relish the loss of moisture in the air, and you might not need to make any transition until winter fully arrives. 3) Hydrate from the Inside-  This is the most obvious tip of all. Stay hydrated by drinking good old H2O. Coffee, soda, and juice—they don’t count. Drink water to stay hydrated from the inside out. If you don’t believe that water can help our skin, think again. Ever see a droopy, lifeless plant? Give it some water and, voila! It gets a new life to it and looks younger as well. So, drink up.  When choosing skin care products to target your dry skin, look for ingredients like Aloe Vera, soy, oatmeal, hyaluronic acids and essential fatty acids that can help seal in moisture. Look for shea butter, olive oil, almond, coconut and avocado oil. They’re all amazing natural ingredients that can provide some wonderful benefits to your skin. It’s really that simple and obvious.
